Spring football fever hit new heights across the SEC this past weekend, with four programs setting all-time attendance records for their annual spring games. Texas led the way with over 98,000 fans packing Darrell K Royal Stadium, while Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama also set new marks.
The surge in attendance reflects the ongoing growth of college football's popularity and the impact of expanded conference membership. Texas, now in its second year as an SEC member, saw a 15 percent increase over last year's spring game crowd.
Coaches used the events to evaluate young talent and install new offensive and defensive schemes. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said the atmosphere rivaled a regular-season game and gave his players an invaluable taste of performing under pressure.
